To send a message you just need to write the message and send it to the phone number you are using in geochat.
Normal messages in Geochat go to every user in the group, but you can also send a message only to one user. Theses messages are called “Direct Messages”. A direct message also belongs to a group, and can be seen by everyone in the group, but it is sent as a message through SMS, mail or twitter, only to the recipient.
Direct messages can be sent by specifying the username, email or phone prefixed with an @ at the beginning of the message, for example:
@jiddu hello world @123456789 hello world @jiddu@gmail.com hello world
The group in which you want to send that message can be specified after or before the user, also with the @:
@india @jiddu hello world @jiddu @india hello world
If no group is specified, the message will be delivered to your default group. For more details on this, see Group Resolution
If more than a single user is specified, only the first one is taken into account:
@jiddu @charles hello jiddu and charles!
will only be sent to jiddu, but anyone, including charles if he belongs to the sender's default group, will be able to see it.
