Creating an account in Geochat

To use Geochat you need to create an account. To create it from the website go to http://geochat.instedd.org. You can also create your account from your mobile phone.

1) Click on the button “Get Started. Join Now!”

2) Complete your login information. You need a Username, a Display Name and a Password.

3) After completing that page, click the “next” button, located in the bottom-right corner.

4) Geochat needs your email to validate your identity if your signing up from the website. Please enter a valid email, you will receive an email to activate your account. You can also check the “Send me geochat messages to this email address” if you want to receive Geochat messages in that email account.

5) Click “next” again.

6) This step allows you to configure your mobile phone. ¹⁾ You need to select the country where your mobile phone is registered. Below you will find a list of mobile companies we know in that country. If you find yours, please select it. Otherwise, don't worry, there is still a chance that Geochat will work with your mobile phone.

7) Enter your mobile phone number without the country code but as you would give it to someone for him to call you from abroad.

8) Once you completed your mobile phone, click the “Text me” button. We will send you a confirmation code that you need to type in the text box that will appear next to the button.

9) Click “next”

10) You will see a map with a marker in the location we could guess. You can modify that location to tell Geochat where you are.

11) Click next.

12) That's it! You just need to confirm the mail address by clicking the link on the mail you will receive from Geochat.
